As the new year is upon us, we are all consumed with what is to be achieved, overcome and accomplished over the next 12 months. In many ways, we limit ourselves without even realizing we are doing it. We allow disappointment at what was not accomplished skew our belief in what we may be able to accomplish in the future. A work/life balance mentality causes us to weigh our personal lives against our professional lives in a mindset of guilt or sacrifice with a belief that one must give up some things to get other things. The transition into a new year causes us to think only for the short term over these next twelve months instead of a more expansive vision to guide us in our life versus a small part of it.
